Bean Bags for the Bean

I managed to spend quality time with my sewing machine two days in a row!  That pretty much never happens.  Hmm...maybe that is why my seamstress skills are somewhat lacking and improvement is s-l-o-w.

Anyhow, while I had my cutting mat out for my quilting projects I thought I'd cut some 5" squares and make the Bean some bean bags.  I also cut holes in a mailing box so she'd have somewhere to toss her bean bags, or in this case split pea and lentil bags.

I apologize for the blurry pictures.  It is nearly impossible to catch the Bean standing still these days!

Snow Day!

Since it snowed nearly all day, two days in a row, and I didn't feel like driving in it, we spent two whole days inside.  So, what do you do when it has been snowing for two days?  Go sledding!

Busy, Busy

Willa was a busy girl the past few weeks.

She 'painted' valentines for her cousins...

Went for a drive with her buddy, Trenton...

'Helped' mommy with the laundry...

And walked, and walked, and walked, and walked.

She also spent time outside in the beautiful weather, walking around the cul-du-sac and going for rides in her new wagon.  I was just so excited to get outside that I forgot the camera!  Maybe during our next 'heat wave' I'll get some pictures.

Happy Friday!

The Perfect Touch

Check out this great pillow cover I ordered today from the talented Megan at 99Twelve!  It will go perfectly with the 'places we've lived together' theme I tried to create in the living room.  (She does custom orders so our Minnesota will be brick red.)

We have road maps of the Twin Cities, St. Louis, and Bloomington, IN on the wall.  I couldn't find a road map of Bangkok on Amazon (imagine that!) so Thailand is represented with a beautiful watercolor painted by my mom.  This pillow is going to be the perfect addition!

On another note, I've been a bad, bad blogger lately.  This morning I got the camera out to take some pictures of the Bean and I realized I haven't uploaded any pictures since her birthday!  Oh my.  So, after my camera battery charges and we spend some time outside in this fabulous weather I'll get to that.

The Big Game

The Bean has been getting ready for this game all season long.  Go Pack, Go!

Fill Me Up!

I find it difficult to get enough protein at breakfast.  "Have some eggs," you say.  Bleh.  I don't eat eggs.  I've tried and tried, but I just can't do it.  So, in the past I've mixed plain greek yogurt with a little agave or honey and some oats.  Its still pretty tangy, but doable.

Then yesterday at the store I picked up a few of these Chobani flavored greek yogurts and they're deeeeee-licious.  Creamy, not too sweet, and full of protein. So far I've had the pomegranate and mango flavors.  Yum!

February--Round 2

I was having a really hard time coming up with my resolutions for February.  Since this cold, snowy weather has left me feeling pretty lethargic, I've decided my goals should revolve around giving me more energy.

I put a lot of thought into what I feed the Bean, why don't I do the same for myself?  Yesterday for lunch she had noodles, chicken, and pears.  I had noodles.  For breakfast she had yogurt, blueberries, and toast.  I had toast.  You see a pattern here?  So, I resolve to eat more balanced meals and regular snacks to keep me going all day long.

For a few months before the holidays I was working out fairly regularly, but then Willa started getting upset when I left her in childcare, I got busy lazy, and I haven't been to the Y AT ALL in the new year.  No wonder I'm feeling zapped of energy.  So, I resolve to exercise 3-5 days a week.  Hopefully it will warm up into the 30's later in the month so I can do some of those workouts outside!

The one thing I'm pretty good at is going to sleep at a reasonable time and taking a nap if I need one, so no need to make a goal there. :)

Okay...off to the grocery store I go!

January Resolutions

Can you believe it is February first?!  January flew by and its already time to share how I did with my resolutions for the month.

1.  Revise and follow my cleaning schedule--I was the most successful with this one.  I find that I'm still revising the schedule a little bit, but I have managed to follow it for the most part and I feel on top of the cleaning, for once.

2.  Spend 10 minutes picking up before bed--umm...I did not do this.  Not even ONCE!  Who was I kidding?  I pretty much drag myself to bed at 9 o'clock, if I can manage to stay up that late, so taking 10 minutes to pick up just wasn't realistic.

3.  Start the morning by making a schedule for the day--I tried this but found giving myself a rigid schedule just stressed me out, so instead I adopted the motto "just keep moving."  When I finish with one project and I'm not sure what do next I just keep moving around the house until I find something that needs to be worked on and before I know it, a lot has been done.

So, I didn't exactly follow all of my resolutions to a T, but I'm happy with the progress I've made.  Most importantly I learned that I need to be a little more realistic when making my goals.  This is why I'm giving myself one more day to revise my resolutions for February.  :)
