Game Face

This is the Bean's game face.  No wonder Brett threw so many interceptions last night.  I mean come on, she is pretty intimidating.

She also proudly sported her new Aaron Rodgers jersey that Daddy picked up for her at the Packer Pro Shop while in Green Bay last week.

Leaf Clip

I love how easy it is to get the Bean ready for the day.  Throw on an outfit, put a bow in her hair, clean the food off of her face from breakfast, and tah-dah, all set.  On occasion I get her dressed and realize I don't have a matching hair accessory.  gasp!  Here is one I whipped up to go with her cute corduroy dress.

My pattern.  I cut out two pieces from brown felt and stitched the veins on using white thread.

The plain leaf is for the bottom.

I cut a slit in the plain leaf and slipped the clip through.

Next, I placed the top leaf over the bottom leaf and the top of the clip.  Then I stitched them together using the same white thread.

Last but not least, I covered the visible part of the clip with ribbon.

And here I am trying to get a picture of her modeling it.  Never mind the fact that I'm on the wrong side and she moves to fast for me to get a clear picture.  :)  It's cute, trust me.

Outtakes

The Bean recently learned to give kisses, although more often than not they are more like licks or slobbers. Either way, as her mother I find them to be super cute, so I tried to capture one on camera yesterday.  Of course she was more interested in the blinking lights and beeping noises coming from the self timer than giving me kisses, but we almost had it at the end!  Here are the outtakes:

Forget you Momma.  I want that camera!

I am holding her hands so she can stand in this one,
NOT grabbing her shoulders.  he,he.

To Cut or Not to Cut?

That is the question.

How annoying would it be to have your bangs in your face like this?

But how cute is that pony?

We Have a Tooth!

The Bean has been more cranky and clingy than usual the past few days, which hasn't been much fun, to say the least.  We thought the stuffy nose was the culprit, but it looks like this pesky little tooth poking through has been playing a part in making the bean miserable.

This afternoon I ran my finger across her bottom gums and to my surprise a tiny little tooth scratched me!  The Bean still seems to be a bit uncomfortable, but is getting back to her playful, spunky, sweet self.  Yahoo!

We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Life...

...for a cold.

The Bean has a cold, which is apparently just a right of passage for babies and young kids.  Did you know the average toddler will have 8 to 10 colds before their second birthday?  That is what Dr. Greene says anyway.  Seems like a lot, especially when you're up for the day at 5:15 am with your soon-to-be 8 month old.  Dr. Greene also says a typical cold lasts about 7 days, which seems like a long time when the previously mentioned soon-to-be 8 month old has a constant stream of snot running out of her nose, spends most of her day fussing, and sounds like her snoring grandpa when she's trying to drink a bottle.  Poor girl.

They say every cloud has a silver lining and I have to agree with 'them' in this case.  Even though my little patient is not her spunky self, she still managed to smile when I pulled out the camera this morning. What can I say, she loves the camera.  (Check out those cheeks!) The hours we usually spend playing on the floor have turned into hours of snuggling on the couch, wrapped in her favorite quilt.  Who wouldn't love endless cuddles with this little pumpkin, even if it means ending up covered in snot?

So for now the dishes and laundry will have to wait until this cold passes.  Then we'll get back to our regularly scheduled life.

Nap Time

I love nap time.  Its usually a mad dash to get as much done as I possibly can while the Bean sleeps.  Crossing things off my to-do list is quite thrilling and nap time is when my list really gets a workout.  So satisfying.  But do you know what the very best part of nap time is?  When its over.  Because opening the door and seeing this smiling face through the crib slats makes my heart melt, every single time.

How About a Helmet?

The Bean started crawling about a month ago and it didn't take her too long to figure out how to pull herself up on furniture and in her crib.  Now she is cruising around furniture with great confidence.

Well today, shortly after this picture was taken, she decided to go hands-free, which as you can imagine resulted in a near face plant on the hardwood floor.  Luckily, Mommy was there to save the day.

That little incident got me thinking.  What about when I'm not in arms reach?  What then?  A big bonk of the head or face and one sad little baby.

Ah, if only I could make my fearless girl wear a bike helmet during her waking hours.  You think I'm joking?  Ha, ha. I'm not.  Oh don't worry, I won't do that to her.  I really want to, but I know this is just one of a long list of things in life she'll have to figure out on her own.  For now I'll admire her determination and be there to comfort her when she needs it.  I'll hold on to the bike helmet and we can trade it in for a motorcycle helmet when she starts to drive.
